Information Technology is closely related to cybersecurity. Information Technology, or IT, deals with system management (i.e., computer management, networking). The cybersecurity protects users and company against ill mannered people. Any potential attacks or threats against a company can be dealt with against.

Computer Science focuses on the tools used for cybersecurity. Cybersecurity would not exists if not for the creation of the internet. Thus it is only possible for threats to exists if not for the software that uses for protecting and attacking a company.

While Computer Science deals with the software issue, the Engineering department makes it possible to create technology to be used in the cyber field. The engineering disciplinary creates new ways to integrate new technology into different fields. A research facility may require engineers to simulate potential attacks that may be made to a certain facility and thus needing a new system to better it’s protection.

Criminology contributes to cybersecurity since the internet has been a vast open space where anyone can put anything online. Criminology studies criminals and their crimes. A crime that may occur online is cyberbullying or phising. While it is not considered to be illegal, the government encourage citizen to report any cyberbullying to authorities so that they can address potential problems. Similarly, threats or “online abuse” can be used as evidence against an attacker towards a victim.
