The US is ranked 20th while Finland ranked 10th in National Cyber Security Index (Index, n.d.). The political standing of both countries might correlate to the overall National Cyber Security Index (NCSI). Other factors of their perspective place may be related to their technological advancement. To fully understand the rating, comparing their score will help determine their places in the NCSI ranking.

Finland’s NCSI score might be related to how they approach things. According to an article by Globuzzer, most of Finland’s startups focus on helping the environment rather than making billions of money (Khusnimardanova, 2020). The difference in culture or business model earns a reputation that can last for years. The impact of using technology as a means of making the world become a better place helps gain more NCSI. However, it might not be the case. Technologies exist to help humans better their lives. In the NCSI of Finland, they score a 4 out of 5 in the protection of digital service (Index, n.d.). They value digital services for the people preventing harm to its citizens. It might not be possible to protect everyone but it can at least protect most. The trust services and E-identification in Finland scored a 9 out of 9 (Index, n.d.). In which they value the security of its a citizen and make sure that they are trustworthy.

In the US, most companies just want to make money to achieve the “American Dream”. The highest score that the US got compared to Finland is a contribution to global cybersecurity and protection of essential services. The US can help other countries to build their security system. While cybersecurity is still developing, the US can help others through the means of protecting themselves. The other part in which the US has more score is the protection of essential service. The US is always active against attacks from other countries. They have specific roles in which people can specialize in different fields without worrying about the whole.
