” Next Level Hoop Camp”

Despite being a global, multibillion industry, the world of sports is built on relationships and shared knowledge. Throughout this semester, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with professional basketball player Myron Allen. Through our conversations, I’ve gained valuable insight into what it takes to succeed at the highest level of the game.Using his advice and experience as a foundation, I developed “The Quest” a proposal for a youth basketball skills camp designed to help young athletes improve both on and off the court.

Working with Myron gave me the opportunity to get a deeper understanding of daily habits, discipline and mindset.

The idea for this camp came from discussions about the importance of fundamentals and consistent training. One key takeaway from my conversations with Myron was that many young players focus on highlights rather than mastering the basics. That insight pushed me to design a camp focused on skill development, discipline, and game understanding. Instead of just playing games, this camp emphasizes learning how to train like a professional.

A weekend youth basketball camp giving ages 12 to 18 the opportunity to focus on skill development and mindset. Each day of the camp would begin with warm-ups and skill drills, followed by focused training sessions on shooting, ball handling, and defense. Afternoons would include controlled scrimmages where players apply what they learned.

To get people to join I would promote on social media, I will also put flyers in local gyms. With the help of local coaches spreading the word also. Also, with the help of Myron he provided insight on training, helped shape the structure, and could potentially appear or support the event

This project showed me how important relationships are in the sports industry. Being able to communicate with Myron Allen gave me a real-world perspective that I wouldn’t get from a textbook. It also helped me understand the level of planning and detail required to turn an idea into a realistic event. Overall, this experience helped me grow both professionally and personally, and it gave me a clearer picture of how I can apply my skills in the sports industry.
