Maslow’s hierarchy of needs includes self-actualization, self-esteem, love and belonging, safety and security, and physiological needs. There have been numerous times when Maslow’s hierarchy of needs has been related to my experience with technology. For example, I realized self-actualization when I watched TikTok and decided I needed to take solo trips out of the country and live my life like the people I see online. Self-esteem happened when I posted a picture of me graduating high school on Instagram, and many people congratulated me. I often feel love and belonging because my mom constantly posts me, bragging about me. I’m the favorite child! Safety and security come into play when I think about the ease of access from the apps on my phone, allowing me to schedule medical appointments and take care of all types of bills. Lastly, an example of when technology helped me meet my physiological needs would be when I used Uber Eats yesterday to get some Indian food because I didn’t feel like cooking.
