After looking at the motives, I would rank them as follows. Number 1 for money. Number 2 recognition. Number 3 revenge. Number 4 political. Number 5 has multiple reasons. Number 6 boredom. Number 7 entertainment. I chose this order because it would be the most significant incentive if someone could make money off hacking, whether for themselves or others. Next would have to be Recognition, considering a group or even a person might want to gain some fame, like anonymous because some people find them cool, followed by revenge; revenge could be more than enough motive because if you feel like you’ve been wrong, it’s sometimes harder to walk away instead of seeking revenge. An organization may be a target because of their political views. A hacker may have multiple reasons, not just one, which led to them making that decision. Boredom and entertainment are interchangeable. People might be bored and see if they can hack an organization simply for entertainment.
