#ODUCOMM462 woke up to find out NYR lost to SJS in OT with a 2 goal lead. It’s looking like it’s gonna be one of those mornings.

For this blog, I have showcased some of the tweets that I have posted on my newly created Twitter (or X) that are ranting about all things New York Rangers and it takes the shape of a salty, but happy fan. On my personal Instagram, I like to constantly post my story about anything regarding the Rangers. So, things like trade news, me celebrating a win (or going crazy after a loss to the sharks), and even photos/videos I have taken when I have gone to see them in person. However, these posts aren’t permanent to the public as stories are only viewable for 24 hours before they “self-destruct” and enter the story archive, so I had to find a more permanent solution when it comes to showcasing my persona. That solution came in the form of my class Twitter account!
On this account, you can get a small glimpse into my life and possibly even an insight into what makes “the self-loathing Rangers fan” tick. I like to dub my persona that way as I am very critical of the things that I like because I know that nothing on this planet is without flaws. Not even the ‘94 Rangers! In being a critic, I like to look at both sides of the fence and then choose my side. Sometimes it’s a little harsh and then sometimes playful, but serious which can be noted in the tweets in the gallery above. I will never be a person who hates the Rangers because they are MY team. In a joking way, no one hates the Rangers more than their fans. They’re the ones I chose as a kid and it’s only right to stick with them. But just because they’re special, doesn’t give them protection from criticism and that’s what a lot of the persona online is about. It’s a way for me to vent off steam from a disappointing game (or string of games…), but also do so in a comedic manner because on almost every post I try to incorporate some humor. On the other hand, the persona is full of praise for the team. I’ll cheer for this team at the top of my lungs, but when the lows hit, I will always stick around as hard as it may be.
To wrap things up, I think that my persona is a pretty “off the wall” one and I’d like to compare it to a kid who’s never happy with his toys. Get the kid a PS5 and he still won’t be happy; We get 15 straight wins and I’ll be happy, but it’s not enough. When I see my Blueshirts lift the cup, just then will the inner salty fan and the bratty kid be satisfied. At that moment, I’ll know that “now I can die in peace”, but until then I’ll keep my persona and my support for the Rangers at heart (regardless of how tough it may get).
Almost 2 weeks without Rangers hockey. Make it go faster, I want more things to complain about and then look like this guy when we’re hot. pic.twitter.com/6XfzeLbGWF
