Review Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and explain how each level relates to your experiences with technology.  Give specific examples of how your digital experiences relate to each level of need.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs is composed of five needs. The most basic to complex needs begin as physiological needs, safety needs, belongness and love needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization. Psychological needs relate to my experience with technology through knowledge. Through the internet, I love to do research and watch videos. This provides me with my basic psychological need to want to learn and continuously expand my knowledge in an easily accessible way. My safety needs of technology are met through my home security system. My ring doorbell is connected to the internet and makes me feel secure that a camera is watching outside and preventing individuals from breaking in. My belongness and love needs through technology are met with social media. Social Media gives me a way to connect with my family and friends through any distance. Most of my family lives in Chicago, when I joined the military a few years ago, social media was my only way to connect with them. My esteem needs are met through technology by professional networks. I created a LinkedIn profile that helped me get job offers. It filled my esteem need by showing that my skills were important and sought after. My self-actualization needs are met through technology by meeting similar people. Through social media platforms and games, I have met friends who are similar to me. These online communities helped me grow as a person and opened up my creative side.
