Review the articles linked with each individual motive.  Rank the motives from 1 to 7 as the motives that you think make the most sense (being 1) to the least sense (being 7).  Explain why you rank each motive the way you rank it.

The motives from 1 to 7 that make the most sense to the least are the multiple reasons article, for money article, revenge article, political article, recognition article, boredom article, and entertainment article. The multiple reasons article makes the most sense due to the cybercriminals committing their crimes for social or economic factors. The money article makes sense as criminals will often commit crimes for financial status or to sustain basic needs. The revenge article makes sense as the individuals committing the crimes feel angry and let down. Posting pornography to hurt the victims is their way of “making things right.” The political article makes sense because the hacktivists are affecting the US elections as they feel what their doing is right. The recognition article makes sense as the criminal wanted the labor party to lose the election. He believed the party shouldn’t win and did what he thought was right. He wanted to be seen as the person to stop the party from winning. The boredom article makes sense as the attacks are grooming children which increased during the pandemic. A lot of people couldn’t do anything but stay home which increased the abuse of children online as everyone was using the internet more often. The entertainment article makes the least sense as the criminal committed the crime “for fun.” His only motive was for his entertainment.
