MPH 613: INTEGRATED LEAD POISONING PREVENTION ASSIGNMENT
In the Environmental, Health, and Society course, Dr. Becker gave us an interesting lab project on Lead Poisoning. It was a case study where the scenario was given. Project was based on fictional happy town where families lived and celebrated and enjoyed the annual fair. It helped us to understand our surroundings and the presence of environmental hazards. Lead positioning is crucial for the children and parent do not even realized that it is present everywhere from their drinking water to the toys they play with. We often forget to analyze our surroundings, the place we live, the old construction, paint used on the walls, pipes used by the city to provide water, water tank and colorful toys, beads and balloons that are often used in the parties. The lab provides just that, it helps identify the common source of lead and how to prevent lead poisoning.
