En la primavera de 2022, tome el Español 330 – la literatura española con Dra. Angelica Huizar. En esta clase, analizamos las obras literarias empezando de las edades medias hasta el siglo veinte. Al leer géneros como poesía, obras de teatro y ensayos narrativos, aprendimos cómo estas obras juegan un papel importante en la expresión de las identidades y experiencias hispanas y latinoamericanas.

Una de las conclusiones principales de esta clase es como la expresión literaria puede ser una herramienta poderosa para el activismo. De las ideas feministas establecidas en los poemas de Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz a las historias reales de la colonización española de las américas, cada obra cuenta una historia diferente sobre el significado de ser hispano. 

Esta clase me ha ayudado a pensar críticamente sobre la literatura hispana y latinoamericana y entender su importancia en la historia de España y Latinoamérica.

In the spring of 2022, I took Spanish 330 – Hispanic Literature with Dr. Angelica Huizar. In this course, we analyzed literary works starting from the Middle Ages all the way up to the twentieth century. By reading genres such as poetry, plays, and narrative essays, we learned how these works play an important role in expressing Hispanic and Latin American identities and experiences

One of the main takeaways from this class is how literary expression can be a powerful tool for activism. From the feminist ideals laid out in the poems of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz to the real life accounts of the Spanish colonization of the Americas, each work tells a different story about the meaning of being Hispanic.

This class has helped me think critically about Hispanic and Latin American literature and understand its importance in the history of Spain and Latin America. The next pages display my progress in my Spanish-writing and critical-thinking skills throughout the semester.
