The Quest🗺️

The proposal will be for an internship position with the company. Although I am working part-time with this organization, I’m planning on taking summer courses to graduate a little earlier. For that reason, I would have to complete my internship this coming fall semester so that I can graduate. SIS is an organization that I would like to work at because it aligns with what I want to do with my career, basketball scouting.

When speaking to my pen pal, I was asked if I had any scouting material that I had worked on in the past. I responded that I did not because I would just keep any analysis of players in my head. He made me realize I need to start creating my own scouting reports to show my dedication to this profession.

These scouting reports would have information that I believed was important to know about the player. This would include the player’s height, weight, age, and the player’s university. Additionally, I would add the players’ season stats and the position that they play. From there, I would dedicate some time to watching films on these players to determine what their play style is like. I would also write down the players’ strengths and weaknesses that I notice.

Based on the advice that he gave me, I wanted to take it a step further and create an NBA draft big board. A big board is when you rank the best players in college basketball or overseas, based on who you think is the best prospect. I decided to complete this in a Google Sheet and worked on it over the last couple of days. I would rank the players from one to sixty, one being the best player in my opinion, and 60 being the lowest-ranked player. Fortunately, I am familiar with a handful of these prospects, but for the ones I didn’t know, I had to watch some film to better understand their game.

As previously mentioned, I would try to keep all this information in my head, not thinking I would write it down for anything. I’m pleased with the advice that I was given because now I can have these as references of work that I dedicated time to complete.
