Amazing Analog

Amazing- Who knew a middle-aged Midwest woman could drop a beat? Not this middle-aged Midwest woman! When Si sent out her video before class, I thought, “Well, this should be ‘interesting.'” I understood what she was saying, but I had no idea how I was going to make these tracks and work with this interface. Luckily, I was wrong! The Groovepad app was a great invisible interface to use. It helped me understand the aesthetic choices made in creating the tracks, but I didn’t have to understand how to mix or fade to produce music I could enjoy! Again, instantaneous action! A few clicks and selects and I had a recording. If I didn’t like it, I could record another or change up the elements of the one I had.

Emerson’s magic again comes to mind! This is what gave this invisible interface meaning to me. I could enjoy the audio, the communication, without having the interface “interfere” with the music, which is ironic. Without the interface, I wouldn’t have the music. I wouldn’t be able to have the creative license I did in making these tracks. Even though my choices were limited to the selection offered by Groovepad, the variety of items and the endless combination of them made this amazing interface one of my unexpected favorites!
