Learning about emotional dependency was a very interesting topic. The assignment discussed how it can affect us psychologically. It’s a trait that can affect people all over the world. There is counseling for emotional dependency. Its hard cycle to break especially depending on the way you are raised. It’s a trait that takes time to grow out of over time.
The assignment is relevant to me because of how I help with the children in my family. The children I am around are from different areas and grew up in different environments. I try to be there for them and teach them things so they can learn to express themselves and not be dependent on their parents.
ATA 4
I took a lot away from this assignment. I have always understood the difference between men and women and the roles we play. Many of those roles have changed over the years some good, some bad. I think it comes from growth as a culture. In a way I feel things are getting better when it comes to men and women accepting one another. An example could be at my job. I work with men and women and no once claims to be better than anyone. We all work together to achieve a goal and get the work done.
ATA 3
A takeaway from this assignment is understand gender roles and aspects. I have a better understanding about things men and women contribute to a household. Men and women might have different roles but together they both help the household stay together.
Being in north America we have certain understanding of how things are supposed to be. If someone is from another country, they have a different outlook than mine. That doesn’t make my views any better or correct when you compare it to someone else’s.
ATA2:
My biggest takeaway from the assignment were how we value ourselves. The reading showed ways how we put label on things to make ourselves feel better about certain situations in our life. The way we view things might not be the same way people in out countries view things. It relates to me because I work with people from other countries. When I talked about the self-concept to them it’s what they are brought up with whereas with us its something we must learn. The image I picked was about learning styles. People learn things many different way and there isn’t just one specific way of learning something.

The biggest takeaway from the assignment was the different levels of sensitivity. I thought was an either you have it, or you don’t concept. Reading about the different levels of intercultural sensitivity made me look at the people I work. I started to understand their thought process about their views on other cultures. It was relevant for getting to know my coworkers better and understand out views on different culture topics. The image for me represents cultural unity. You can be from a different culture and still work together and learn together.
