Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture
While taking Spanish 202, I had the honor to be introduced to many Spanish- Speaking countries. Things that helped me gain this knowledge of other cultures are Talkabroad, ContraseƱa, and ImmerseMe.
Those practices helped me a ton in regards of the many Spanish- speaking country throughout the world. I spoke to many Spanish- speakers on Talkabroad and on ImmerseMe, who gave me great insight of their country and culture. They each challenged my worldview because before taking this course I was oblivious about certain stereotypes in the Latina community. I once thought that Mexicans were the only group getting stereotyped because being from America that is all I hear, however many Latinos get stereotyped by their own race.
Engaging in Communities
Engaging in my community is extremely important. I come from a community where a lot of people are born into failure. Many children do not have the proper guidance, so being a person that they could look up to is great! Engaging in the global community is also very important. There is numerous of homeless people globally, there is no reason somebody in this rich world should have little.
I got involved in helping my community by handing out blankets, foods, bottles, and clothes to homeless individuals. Being apart of that really opened my eyes and made me realize that I am very blessed. I’m very thankful for being in the position I am in.

Interpersonal Communication
I’ve completed two TalkAbroads this semester and each one was with the same partner. He was from Nicaragua. I had the opportunity to learn about him and his country. Our Conversation went very well, there was laughter and very informative information. Also, with ImmerseMe and discussion boards.
The assignments of course came with trial and error, however over the time I was able to get better and understanding a lot more by preparation. For instance, the TalkAbroad conversation I would write down questions and answer them because I knew my partner was going to ask me the same question back. With ImmerseMe, the first assignment I struggled because I wasn’t prepared to speak without any guidance, so I made sure when the next assignment came about I would go over the first level numerous of times until I got it.
Presentational Speaking
Speaking activities I completed were the TalkAbroads, ImmerseMe, the conversation with my Professor, and the Flip’s. Those conversation were beyond helpful.
The TalkAbroads and conversation with my professor both lasted 15 minutes. We spoke about each unit that was assigned during the time of our conversations. We spoke about influencers, art, my future, and even sustainable foods. Also, with the Flip’s I had to record myself answer numerous question and with asking questions of my own.

Presentational Writing
In Spanish 202 I had to type in ImmerseMe, also on several exams/project. These assignments helped me a lot with my development of creating correct sentences with the Spanish language
In ImmerseMe I had to type out my response to the Spanish- speaker in each assignment. Also, with my exams and projects I had to talk about anything consisting of my unit. For example, I had to write about sustainable foods, art, customs, etc. What became easier was the ImmerseMe because I became used to it from doing it over and over. What was difficult was the exams/projects because I was not fully prepared to answer those questions in Spanish, especially with the word limit. I honestly did not know what to say.
Interpretive Listening
In Spanish 202 I had to listen to my professor, my Talkabroad partner, videos from classmates, and videos within Lingrolearning.
My professor asked me numerous questions in regard with the unit we were covering, I had to listen closely in order to accurately ask questions. During Talkabroads was the same, I had to listen to my partners questions and answers in order to fully comprehend our conversation. Lastly, with the videos from my classmates on Flip, I had to listen as well to answer their 1-2 questions.
Interpretive Reading
In Spanish 202, I read numerous of content within Lingrolearning. I read poems and countless amount of correct sentences in Spanish.
While using Lingrolearning I read about a story regarding a poor student going to university for the first time. His parents dropped him off and was embarrassed because they didn’t have everything other parents have. Also, I read vocabulary and correct sentences that helped me used correct conjugation and great sentence structure in Spanish.
