In SOC 320, I learned how deep inequality goes. I already had strong opinions about unfairness in the United States of America, but this class gave me better examples and legitimate proof (peer-reviewed sources and such). It made me think more about wealth, race, education, housing, and how people can be held back before they even get a real chance. What stood out to me the most was how often society blames people for struggling instead of looking at the systems around them. This class did not change my mind, but instead unlocked a passion for diving deeper to understanding the WHY behind why something is a certain way. I am more confident in what I believe, has helped me explain myself better around inequalities, and I will spread the information I have learned from this class as well!
