Exploring Culture
This semester in class I listened to several people talk about changes in their culture surrounding same sex marriage and gender identity. I was able answer basic regarding the various beliefs, opinions and life experiences. I found it necessary to read the transcripts of what they were saying to fully understand them. I struggled to keep up with them.
Engaging in Communities
For the last two years I have been dancing bachata and salsa. This has been a great way to engage in Hispanic people and culture. The section on the homework on the different food customs around Latin america was very eye opening. the different times people would have there meals depending on weather they lived in a city or the country-side. I was surprised to learn that the cities are more like the US and the country-side’s in hotter places take long breaks in the afternoon.
Interpersonal Communication
Talk-abroad has been a good test of my conversational skills. My partner lead the first part of the conversation but I was able to talk more. The second conversation was a lot better with the help of a concise script to refer to.

Presentational Writing
One of the project during the semester was to make a health and wellness poster. I had a hard remembering all the reflexive verbs but I did remember 3 so i count that as a win. this project challenged me to to use reflexive verbs and to keep thing simple.

throughout the semester the homework would have listening questions. I found these very challenging given they would have just introduced the words they were using and the recordings would be very long with no ability to slow down the playback.

Interpretive Reading
Many homework assignments this semester had me reading passages in spanish. These were good practice to help me learn. As the semester went on I found my ability to read these was not improving with the increased complexity.
