About me

“The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge.”

–Bertrand Russell

Love.

Each day, I’m motivated almost exclusively by love. The love I have for the work I have done during my time as an elementary school registrar has led me to realize that I am meant to be within the walls of a school library.  The joy that our students find among the bookshelves and in their imaginations has caught me.  That love is too much to ignore and I have set my sites on nurturing that same love for knowledge within our youngest students.

I’m currently a pursuing a Masters of Library and Information Studies at Old Dominion University.  I work for one of Prince William County Schools’ finest elementary schools and am inspired daily by my own two elementary-aged daughters and my husband.  I am thrilled to be embarking on this journey so I can continue the vital work of school librarians in shaping the way our future community members learn, imagine and share their knowledge.

Within these pages, you will find examples of work that I have completed during the MLIS program, a little more about me, and of course, a blog with highlights from my journey and some of my accomplishments.  My resume and philosophy, while currently a work in progress, will also be available before the end of my course, the culmination of which will be the entire portfolio you see here.  It is my hope that you will clearly see my progress from student to school librarian and be able to feel how much I love what I do.
