Sport Media “Diet”

As many of us know, social media can easily become both draining and addictive. The way we use it can significantly impact our mental well-being, so it’s important to take a step back and be mindful of how we engage. For me, platforms like TikTok and Instagram are the most enjoyable and where I tend to spend most of my time. They offer quick, digestible content that fits into my day, making them ideal for catching up on entertainment or staying updated on trends.

However, being a sports major and someone who loves everything related to sports, I’ve made it a priority to make sure I’m absorbing the necessary information to stay informed. Social media is great for catching breaking news or insights, and I enjoy watching content that helps me grow in my field. Still, I know that I must be mindful of how much time I spend scrolling. Social media can be a double-edged sword, and it’s essential for me to maintain a healthy balance. I have a personal life outside of my digital world, and my career goals require me to be focused and present in both my studies and professional development.

That’s why I keep my social media consumption intentional. I spend just enough time to get the information I need—whether that’s staying up-to-date with sports news or learning something new that contributes to my goals. In the future, I envision myself less active on social media, with more focus directed toward engaging with my community. Over the next five years, I see myself being less reliant on social media and investing more time in building personal connections and fostering a deeper impact where it matters most.
