Reflection
I thoroughly enjoyed this class because it gave me an opportunity to learn more about Linux, which I daily drive with Fedora Linux, but also because it was extremely hands-on. Every assignment is done in a Kali Linux VM and the terminal was used for every task, so the commands were reinforced in my mind from how much repetition we did. I got the chance to refresh topics I already knew some information about, like network configuration and basic terminal commands, but also learned various new topics like shell scripting, crontab entries, file permissions and group accounts, creating filesystems, and more. All of the tasks focused more on the enterprise side of Linux, so we focused more on potential uses for managing groups of people and accounts, but I can still apply this knowledge for personal use, such as the Debian-based Proxmox homeserver I am currently working on. The knowledge gained from this class has helped and will continue to ease the learning process I’ll go through as I build up that lab, and my other courses too.
