I believe that having relationships with my students individually and as a class is the most important part of being a teacher. Student behavior, in my opinion, depends on how they feel they are being treated. Most students misbehave because they are looking for attention. I believe that if my students already have my attention that the misbehaving will decrease. Since I want to be choral director it is hard to differentiate the seating arrangement. Choral seating is very specific so I can’t really diverge from that. I plan on having my students in rows on levels in the classroom. From left to right it will be sopranos, basses in the back, tenors in front of basses, and altos. Here is a diagram of this seating arrangement:

The center being empty allows me to center myself and the piano in this arrangement and be that much closer to my students. In closing, I believe that being as close to my students starts the beginning stages of our teacher-student relationship and it continues to grow from there as we interact with one another.
