My topic for this course was the effects that Periodontal has on the body, and how it contributes to overall systemic diseases. I think researching this topic for this class really made it clear the direction I want to go into with my career, which is Dentistry. It is something I am passionate about.
This class proved to me that my writing skills needed work, but it helped me figure out the areas that I really needed to focus in on. My figures and adding in more visuals. It also helped me create smoother transitions and showcasing why one subject leading into the other is and was so important.

This course does a great job of preparation for the world beyond ODU by syncing oral skills with communication, writing skill enhancements, and an opportunity to fine tune what works and what needs improvement in group work skills.
I thrive in with oral communication and writing. The incorporation of AI usage and how to properly utilize it in this course is a great example of adapting to change. I was always fearful of it to be honest, but it is honestly an addition into the new world that needs to be navigated properly.
I struggle with group work skills. Everyone is so very different and complex and particular in how they operate day to day. Not only that, but life happens. So how some operates this week, may not be a possibility for them the next. This can make group work difficult. It helps me though in working on adaptability as well as even stronger communication skills. Some people do their best work alone, and that’s completely okay. However, there needs to be a level of cross disciplinary skill as well.
