Introduction to Cybersecurity

1. Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

Interests in Cyber Security Technology

Kaspersky Lab, a Russian multinational cybersecurity and anti-virus provider, stated simply and yet eloquently of cyber security that cyber security is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks. It is also known as information technology security or electronic information security. Since we are living in the digital era, hackers and cyber terrorists have limitless chances of compromising people, government organizations, and even major corporations. Top corporations are prepared to pay high prices for cyber security professionals who can secure their data and eliminate vulnerabilities in order to defend against cyber assaults and security breaches.

Main Points

I am interested in cybersecurity technology because it provides a diverse and a plethora of opportunities to contribute; it has a high demand on the job market, and it pays well.

It provides a diverse and a plethora of opportunities to contribute.

It pays well.

It pays well.

To begin with, cybersecurity offers a wide range of enjoyable options to make a difference in life. Despite the fact that hackers appear to be becoming increasingly sophisticated by the day, the world still depends on computers. And the more cyber security knowledge I have, the more equipped I will be to help prevent hackers from causing harm. I want to learn how cyber security experts utilize innovative tactics to attack the systems they are trying to defend in order to find weaknesses that hackers may exploit. To engage in bug bounty programs, for instance, in which talented white-hat hackers try to disrupt their black-hat adversaries’ unlawful and damaging operations by identifying and correcting flaws in cybersecurity protection systems.

Second, there is a great need for cybersecurity professionals in the employment market. The need for educated professionals who are familiar with both business and cybersecurity is substantial and expanding. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) of the United States estimates that the information security field would expand 37 percent between 2012 and 2022, substantially faster than the average for all jobs. Professionals in cybersecurity are in great demand across a wide range of sectors. A recent LinkedIn search for the term “cybersecurity” yielded over 50,000 results. While there are several possibilities and job vacancies in the cybersecurity area, the education level required to obtain these positions can be rather high. According to CyberSeek, a graduate degree was needed by 25% of firms looking for a cybersecurity architect role (23 percent for a cybersecurity engineer; 21 percent for a penetration tester). Those with the necessary education and experience, on the other hand, have a plethora of options, with employment vacancies in almost every state and in every industry, both private and public.

  • Finally, cybersecurity is profitable. The demand for cybersecurity experts is significantly surpassing the supply, as cyber threats and assaults become more prevalent and advanced. This shows that job stability for skilled cybersecurity experts is virtually guaranteed. According to Forbes, by 2022, there will be 1.8 million cybersecurity employment openings. Multiple organizations are making competitive offers to candidates, with wage increases average over 30%. Current businesses are rushing to keep people on board, making counter offers such as 10% and greater wage hikes for information security team members. Because of the scarcity of qualified personnel, cybersecurity specialists are among the highest paid in the technology industry, with a compensation differential of 9% over IT occupations in overall.
