Reflection Paper – 150 Hours
As my cybersecurity internship at the Cybersecurity Clinic approaches 150 hours, I
am learning more about client communication, teamwork, and the value of clear, actionable
reporting. My primary emphasis for the previous 50 hours has been to work with my team on
the client profile report and executive brief. We worked hard to combine the technical
findings from our risk assessments into an accessible form for non-technical audiences,
ensuring that our suggestions are not only understandable but also actionable.
Throughout this time, we made significant progress on the Google Slides for the
executive brief. The objective was to transform our judgments into a visually appealing and
professional presentation. We reviewed Greg Tomchick’s top ten ideas and prioritized them
based on their impact and practicality for the client. This activity helped me improve my
ability to balance technical correctness and strategic commercial communication.
We also kept regular communication with our client, explaining their requirements
and offering updates to ensure that our solutions met their expectations. These discussions
helped me improve my communication skills and showed me how to address cybersecurity
issues with empathy and business perspective.
When faced with team-related problems, we had open meetings to explain
responsibilities and resolve misconceptions early on. These discussions facilitated greater
collaboration and ensured that everyone felt confident in their roles going forward. This
experience taught me the importance of open communication and accountability in team
environments.
Overall, this component of the internship underlined the importance of collaboration,
clarity, and adaptability in the cybersecurity consulting process. I am looking forward to
completing our deliverables and presenting our work in a professional environment.
Stay connected.
