Windows 11 Installation

Source: Professional Work Experience

Artifact Type: Operating System and Configuration

Overview

As part of my work experience in IT, I was responsible for upgrading a computer that required Windows 11. This task involved preparing the installation media, performing the operating system installation, and completing the necessary setup after Windows was installed.

My Work

I began by downloading the Windows 11 ISO image and preparing a USB drive to use as the installation media. Then I booted the computer using that USB and worked through the Windows installation process. During the installation, I removed the existing partitions from the computer and completed the installation of Windows 11.

After the installation was complete, I performed the necessary configuration, including creating a local backup administrator account and connecting the workstation to the organization’s network. This allowed me to complete the process from preparing the bootable USB through configuring the workstation for employee use in the work environment.

Skills Demonstrated

This experience strengthened my systems administration skills by giving me hands-on experience preparing and deploying an operating system on a workplace computer. I worked through the process of preparing a Windows 11 bootable USB, managing a computer’s existing disk partitions, completing an OS installation, and performing configuration.

Unlike a classroom exercise, I was able to work with an actual workstation that needed to be prepared for continued use in a professional environment. This has helped me build my confidence in handling operating system deployment and workstation setup as part of my IT responsibilities.
