About Me
My name is Opal Simmons, and sports have never just been a game to me — they are a space of leadership, storytelling, and impact. Through my work in athletics, I have had the opportunity to operate behind the scenes while helping shape what fans, athletes, and coaches experience on and off the court.
Currently, I work in collegiate athletics, supporting women’s basketball through creative media, operations, and program support. My role allows me to contribute to everything from visual storytelling and digital content to team logistics and game-day execution. Whether I’m editing graphics, organizing materials, coordinating details, or capturing moments that define a season, I take pride in helping elevate women’s sports and the athletes who compete at the highest level.
My background includes experience with football video operations, where I developed technical skills in filming, editing, and distributing game-day content to coaches and players. That experience strengthened my attention to detail, time management, and ability to perform in high-pressure environments — skills that continue to shape how I approach my work today.
What drives me most is the power of sports media. The way a story is told matters. The way athletes are framed matters. Representation, visibility, and narrative all influence how audiences understand sports — and the people who play them. Being part of that process has shown me that sports are not just entertainment; they are cultural platforms that shape identity, opportunity, and conversation.
I am passionate about continuing to grow within sports administration and media, particularly in spaces that support women’s athletics. My goal is to combine creativity, leadership, and strategy to help programs thrive while ensuring athletes are seen, valued, and celebrated.
For me, working in sports means working at the intersection of competition, communication, and culture. And I am just getting started.
