My leadership course for LeADERS, was actually a co-curricular option. I choice to apply for Civic Scholars and I was accepted August 2024. I was able to participate as a scholar for both my Junior and Senior year. During this experience, I was able to network with other peers, and professionals who are already in the workforce to find guidance and connections, making the transition from college to career easier. We had various leadership workshops, social gatherings, volunteer opportunities, and visits where we could see lawmaking and talk with lawmakers.
Here are a few pictures from the events:
This was at the 26’ Welcome event where the scholars volunteered and networked with the Class of 26’ Civic Leaders. The Civic leaders were professionals already in their careers, who serve as a mentor to the civic scholars.

This was during a Site Visit to the capitol. We talked to policymakers and heard some of the ways the create laws and the process of which they are passed. In the photo was when the scholars were able to sit in on a House of Representatives meeting with some of the civic leaders. During this event, we were also recognized as a group for our civic service. During the remainder of the day, we had a workshop continuing to learn new skills on being a leader in our community.
