Artifact: CYSE 494 – Entrepreneurship in Cybersecurity
For Course Experience #5, I chose to highlight my research paper, The Collapse of FTX: Lessons in Governance, Risk Management, and Digital Trust. In this assignment, I examined the downfall of FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange that collapsed due to poor leadership, weak internal controls, and ineffective risk management. My research explored how rapid business growth without proper oversight, transparency, and accountability can ultimately lead to organizational failure.
This experience helped me develop a stronger understanding of how cybersecurity and entrepreneurship are connected. I learned that protecting an organization involves more than securing networks and information systems. It also requires ethical leadership, effective governance, and the ability to identify and manage business risks. I chose to include this artifact because it demonstrates my ability to analyze real-world business failures and recognize the importance of integrating cybersecurity into organizational decision-making. As I continue advancing in my professional career, I will apply these lessons to assess organizational risks, strengthen security practices, and support innovative solutions that prioritize security, accountability, and customer trust.
