Review Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and explain how each level relates to your experiences with technology.  Give specific examples of how your digital experiences relate to each level of need.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs has 5 different levels of needs. The first level, being the physiological needs such as food, water, warmth, and rest. In today’s world, technology has become almost intertwined with this first level, without technology, a vast majority of people would be without a job and would not have these needs met. The second level is Safety needs, such as Security and Safety. The way technology interacts with this level is that a lot of information is now stored on phones and computers, if they are breached, all of this information could be leaked out into the world. The third level is Belongingness and Love needs, which encompasses friends and intimate relationships. Technology has a huge effect in this now as many people keep up with distant family and friends through social media, without this there would not nearly be as much contact with them. The fourth level is Esteem needs, such as prestige and feelings of accomplishment. A vast majority of individuals post and share their accomplishments online, without that form of media, most of them would not feel the same pride in their accomplishments as they do with sharing it to the world. The fifth and final level is Self-Actualization, which is achieving their full potential. Maslow himself believes that while everyone strives for the fifth level, few if any actually get to this point.
