Review the articles linked with each individual motive (individuals and crime).  Rank the motives from 1 to 7 as the motives that you think make the most sense (being 1) to the least sense (being 7).  Explain why you rank each motive the way you rank it.

The 7 motives given are Entertainment, Political, Revenge, Boredom, Recognition, Money, and Multiple Reasons. The highest, or make the most sense, would be (1) Entertainment. Entertainment is #1 due to the fact that a vast majority of people will commit cybercrime for entertainment, whether it be to get a reaction out of an individual, or just to bully them from behind a screen. The second would be Money, as if you can get an individual’s information, you could blackmail them for money, or you could sell company data for even more money. The third would be Political, a country or individuals inside the government could sell data or leak information to adversaries to get a political advantage over others, or for the second point, money. The fourth motive would be Revenge, as if you get out of a relationship, you could harbor bad feelings and decide to take it out on your ex-partner. The fifth motive would be Recognition, as a lot of individuals will just hack or steal things just to say that they can and that they are better than whoever they might be stealing from. The sixth motive would be Boredom, as an individual might be so bored as to learn the skills necessary to hack or steal data from companies. The seventh and final motive would be the Multiple Reasons, if someone has multiple reasons to go after someone or some corporation, the most likely have one driving point, and a few micro reasons that support the reason but are not seemingly related.
