What Does it Mean to Withdraw?

The last day to withdraw from fall semester courses is November 5th.

Do you need to withdraw? When you withdraw from a class, you are choosing to take a W rather than the grade you have earned. Many students withdraw from a course when they are not academically strong in a class and do not want a less than satisfactory grade to impact their GPA.

During a semester, there are 4 times you can drop a class:

  1. Before the semester begins: Through Leo Online, you can drop (and add) courses without any financial penalty. This is called the drop/add deadline.
  2. By the seventh day since classes started: You can go into Leo Online to withdraw from a class and get 50% back on the cost of the course.
  3. By the 10th week of the semester: You will not receive any money back, but can still withdraw from classes through Leo Online.
  4. After the 10th week of the semester: You will need the approval of your instructor, department’s chairperson, and the dean before being able to withdraw from any courses.

I hope you learned what it means to withdraw from a class!
