Self-Reflection Can Go a Long Way

As the semester comes to an end, things are beginning to slow down and you may be able to recognize many of the ups and downs of your semester. College can be very difficult, especially when you factor in personal life problems and specific day to day activities, but I just want to let you know that you should be proud of yourself for finishing the semester.

One piece of advice that I tend to share with people is ‘do not let your grades define you’. No, I am not saying that you shouldn’t work hard to earn good grades, but do not let a letter define who you are as an individual. Getting a ‘C’ in a class does not merely change your character, or shape who you are as a person. I have seen many times, even personally with myself that allowing grades to affect your perception of yourself is completely not healthy. What you should gain from this experience is how to find your strengths and weaknesses, and learn how to build from the answers you find.

Self-reflections is a key factor into creating a better version of yourself. If you are able to self-reflect you can be able to recognize how your actions may have affected a situation, whether or not it be educational or personal. Below I have provided you with some questions that will allow you to reflect upon the last couple of months:

  1. Am I using my time wisely?
  2. Am I taking anything for granted?
  3. Am I employing a healthy perspective?
  4. Are majority of my thoughts negative or positive?
  5. Am I physically taking care of myself?
  6. Am I prioritizing myself and other relationships properly?
  7. Is there any space to enhance my academic learning experience?

These questions are merely just a guide to help jump start the ‘self-reflection’ process. If you need additional guidance and resources, do not hesitate to reach out to
