A Fresh Start To The Spring Semester

The start of a new semester can be a bit disorienting but with the right plan, everything can fall into place. This is the perfect time to adopt new habits especially if last semester didn’t pan out the way you desired. In order for success to take place in the new semester, it is crucial to establish a plan in the beginning and stick to it. Using ‘SMART’ goals is an effective method that will lead to success. Make sure that goals the you create are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. For example, you can establish an overarching goal to do well this semester compared to last semester. To make this goal specific, determine what type of grades you want to achieve, and the specific GPA you want to receive. With this specific goal, you can now focus on its measurability. This can be determined by the grades you get on individual assignments. Additionally, you have to make sure that the goal is achievable. This is especially important because if your goal is not achievable, you are more likely to give up on it as soon as it gets tough, and trust me it will get tough at times. Your goal has to be realistic. You must be willing to challenge yourself with this goal but there is such a thing as too much of a challenge. Make sure that your goal fits with your ability and drive to achieve it. Lastly, any true goal must have a time-bound element. In this case, you can set your goal to be achieved by the last day of spring classes. Using this method of creating goals will make certain that your goal is met in full and also create an impactful moment on your journey to become a star student!
