The artifacts listed here highlight the thoughtful analysis, intentional planning, and focus on student engagement that I will bring to the library, as well as my heart for accessibility and representation. As a whole, they showcase the full range of responsibilities and understandings that a school librarian must have, each highlighting different AASL standards for school librarians.

1: Collections Analysis & Plan

This semester-long project details the full process of collection planning, including environmental scanning, random sampling, collections analysis, and creating a three year plan for the collection.

2: Equitable Engaged: Designing for Accessibility in the Classroom

This is an example of a professional development presentation, prepared for a conference or staff workshop. It highlights easy-to-use accessibility tools for the elementary school teacher.

3: Body Image & The Media

Designed for digital exploration, this miniature unit supports media literacy & digital citizenship, health education, and mental health goals for middle school students, especially middle school girls.

4: Earthquake! A LibGuide for 5th Graders

LibGuides are one ways that school librarians can support students of all ages to engage in skillful research. This LibGuide supports 5th grade students to engage in project-based learning on the topic of earthquakes.

5: Indigenous People of America: A Paired Text Study

Paired text study guides are another way for school librarians to support the work of the teachers in the school. This paired text offers connections to SOLs, discussion questions, bulletin board ideas, digital exploration, and more for the 2nd grade class.

Artifact 6: Inclusive Library Spaces

Although this project speaks to creating more inclusive spaces in the Henrico County public library system, many of the recommendations (e.g., sensory toolkits, sensory maps) are highly relevant for creating accessible school spaces.

7: Strategic Planning: Gaming Center

A project proposal to create a Gaming Center in an elementary school library was created, including grant proposals and planning for assessment of effectiveness, through the strategic planning process. .

8: Collaborative Unit

This page features a collaborative unit taught to middle school yearbook & journalism students, in which I supported students to use The Big 6 inquiry process to develop themes and conduct research for their documentary projects.
