Week 1 Journal Entry

Review the NICE Workforce Framework. Are there certain areas that you would want to focus your career on? Explain which areas would appeal the most to you and which would appeal the least.

For me, Analysis was the most interesting section of the NICE Workforce Framework. For nearly ten years in the US Navy, I served as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst. I am interested the most in taking those experiences and bringing them into the cyber world. It was interesting, fun, engaging work and it is a field I love studying and working in. Turning raw information into actionable intelligence is challenging with room to expand and grow every day.

A close second for me was the investigation section. Digital forensics and attribution are fascinating to me. Solving puzzles and finding connections between data sets is highly enticing.

The least appealing section in the framework was operate and maintain. The day to day running of networks and customer support are not areas which call to me greatly. Give me a puzzle or a problem to solve and I am all over it. Network service and system administration, while important, would not be my preferred career.
