Throughout this course, I really strengthened my pronunciation skills. I know I still have room for improvement, but I am much more confident in the way I sound when I speak French compared to the beginning and even middle of the semester. Practicing my speaking and pronunciation a lot both in and out of class led me to feeling a lot more comfortable sharing in class, even if I wasn’t 100% sure of my answer. I felt that understanding grammar as well as being able to spell out words were both problem areas for me, and I felt that ImmerseMe really helped me solidify my knowledge in those areas. At the end of the semester, I feel like I have a pretty decent understanding of French phonetics, and I consider that to be a big success for me this semester. The ImmerseMe program’s spelling mode was very helpful for this because it trained me to understand what sounds come from which letters, guiding me to understand more of the nuances of French spelling over time.
