The chef with 18 Michelin stars who’s still largely undiscovered outside of France

This article stuck out to me because it tells the reader about Yannick Alléno, a French chef who has earned 18 Michelin stars across 21 restaurants throughout his career, providing authentic fine-dining experiences. I was interested in this article because of Alléno’s skill and influence of French cuisine, especially his notable work with sauces. He calls them “the verbs of French cuisine,” illustrating the importance and necessity of rich and complex sauces in French dining culture. He has refreshed and reinvented the significant role of sauciers French culture, and he also experiments with different cuisines, with one of his 2 Michelin star restaurants serving French-Japanese fusion cuisine .

Why I joined a Paris protest to support Americans in these uncertain times

I thought this article was interesting and important because it shows the connections between the French and American people. It made me think about how people in France seem much more up to date with the goings on of American politics than we are of French politics. This article also showed the similarity in values between French protesters and American protesters who are deeply concerned about the same things. It shows that morality and our care for humanity does not have to stop at our friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens, and can be extended to global citizens across the world. The number of French citizens that protested shows their overall cultural willingness to defend their beliefs and do something visible when they feel unheard, whether by their own government or that of the United States.
