Tertulias
One on One
I had several one on one meetings; some of the meeting were based off of a preset topic, while others were discussions based on the class and our experience. Both types of interview were helpful at including both prepared responses and spontaneous responses. They also pushed us to speak about various topics.
Partner Interview
Our partner chat was a two person discussion on a set topic. We prepared a script, which we memorized to be more fluid and to not read during the presentation. After our discussion, the instructor asked questions regarding the topic. The questions afterwards were not prepared and required us to give a spontaneous response.
Group Interview
During this semester, we were given two group interviews, where we were given a topic to discuss in a group of about six people. We were given general questions before hand, so we could prepare for the interview. During these interviews, we gave our opinions or commented on other student’s responses.
Boomalang
Boomalang is a site that connects native speakers with students studying that particular language via video chat. We had the opportunity to complete two of these chats during the semester. These chats began with introductions and a brief conversation regarding our likes and dislikes. Then, we moved on to a discussion on a set topic.
Guest Speakers
We had one guest speaker during the semester. He talked to us about his thoughts on friendship. We were able to ask him questions and he also asked us questions as well.
