SPAN 366

Business Spanish Language and Culture

Before starting this course I would have approached business culture with everyone the same way without a second thought. Throughout this course I have gained a better understanding of the many differences between our business culture and the business culture in hispanic countries. I now am more comfortable with business language and vocabulary that would be helpful in the real world. There were three writing assignments completed for this class, which helped me get a better idea of how formal writing would look in the hispanic business world. I had difficulty with finding more formal words and using vocabulary that was better made for this setting. During the course, we learned many new business related words that helped bridge the gap; however, I still need to use these further to build them into my fluency. Overall, this course pushed me to learn a new perspective of Spanish speaking and focusing on formal language and culture. In the future, I will be able to apply these skills in the professional world and will be a great tool to have in the workplace in case I ever need it.

Proyecto País

One major component of this class was the Proyecto País. We each explored a different Latin country and wrote a paper that included general facts and important information about the country. Then, a formal presentation was completed as if a business were trying to start in our country and why they should pick this country to start their company.
