The social cybersecurity article states that current online threats are directed at humans and communities, in addition to being directed at computers and networks. The main problems are misinformation, deepfakes, and social engineering, all of which are aimed at the human side rather than the technical side of the system. I found the authors’ suggestion to combine technology with psychology and social science in order to secure the users against these threats very interesting. According to the authors, sophisticated tools for detection as well as public awareness are needed in order to reduce the risk of online manipulation. This article helped me to see that in the digital era, cybersecurity should not only be regarded as protecting data but also as defending the truth, trust, and communication.
