I reached conclusions concerning the impact of media on our ideas and perceptions regarding cybersecurity while viewing the video Scientists Rate 65 Scenes from Movies and TV: How Real Is It?. Movies and television series often showcase hacking in a dramatic fashion by showing it to be done in a very fast, almost magical fashion, always working and never failing, which is very misleading and creates unrealistic expectations. In reality, cybersecurity is much more of a slow, steady process that requires time and an understanding of complex processes, in contrast to what is portrayed, whether to instill fear or confidence, against the dramatic breach side of media. One thing is certain: dramatic movies and television programs both present a story around the issue while continuously misinforming the public about the actual risks, various cybersecurity processes, and the risks we may face through a dramatic lens. Ultimately, it becomes important to seek the truth outside of entertainment resources.
