Opportunities for Workplace Deviance

Cyber technology has opened up new possibilities for employees to be deviant by providing many ways to misuse digital tools and company resources. With workers having access to computers, the internet, and cloud technology at all times, employees can engage in behaviours such as cyberloafing (browsing social networks, watching videos, or shopping online) at work that detract from productivity while using email for work communication. With the growth of telecommuting (working from home), employees can easily perform deviant behaviour because of the lack of supervision and the ability to hide their actions that would typically be seen in the workplace.

Cyber technology has created more potential for digital corporate misconduct through increased temptation and opportunity for employees.
