Q: Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?
A: From a very young age, I’ve always wanted to make an impact on the world in a major way, but never really knew how. Growing up, I switched my “dream” career multiple times over the course of both middle school and high school, wanting to pursue art, culinary interests, videogame design, etc. Throughout all of this, I’ve always enjoyed helping other people not just with discovering their own dreams, but also helping them through their own personal struggles and issues. From this, I wanted to do something where I knew that I could make real change and genuinely help people for the better; eventually, through my increase in interest for technology and computers, I realized something that could help me accomplish that goal.
Especially for younger people, we live in a world where it’s incredibly likely for an individual to have their personal information stolen, either through an unsecure presence while online or through improper education on how to protect yourself from malicious entities on the web. Whether it’s from social media or simply scrolling through the web, technology has not only been societies biggest success in the world, but also it’s biggest downfall through malicious hackers and cybercrime committed to millions of people every single day. Personally, it saddens me that this increasingly apparent fact is slowly becoming our reality; therefore, it has become my increasing interest and passion to use technology to research better security methods that can be implemented in everyday life and to help educate people on the dangers of improper security care in the hands of technology. My whole reason for why I wanted to get into Cybersecurity Technologies in the first place was to use my appreciation and love for technology to help other people stay safe online and to safely secure themselves when exploring the huge world of the World Wide Web.
