CYSE200

As a freshman in the fall semester of 2024 attending Old Dominion University, I took the class CYSE200. I am very grateful to my Professor, Prof. Kirkpatrick, and all of the things I have learned! I learned how to properly create professional write-ups, business writing skills, and, most importantly, how to engage a writer by reading my write-ups. In this section, I have posted three assignments that I have completed within this course.

Write up: Human Factor in Cybersecurity.

In this assignment we were asked to do the following: “During this week’s reading, you’ve been exposed to different points of view regarding human contribution to cyber threats.  Now, put on your Chief Information Security Officer hat.  Realizing that you have a limited budget (the amount is unimportant), how would you balance the tradeoff of training and additional cybersecurity technology?  That is, how would you allocate your limited funds?  Explain your reasoning.

Write up: CIA Triad and the Distinction between Authentication and
Authorization.

In this assignment, I described the CIA Triad and the differences between Authentication & Authorization, including an example.

Opportunities for Workplace Deviance Discussion Board Post

For this last assignment, which was a discussion board post, which is an open forum where I and other classmates respond to the question that our professor gives us, and then we can see what each other posted and comment under their posts for additional feedback, and to truly discuss the topic amongst each other. In this assignment, the question was: How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

Here is what I responded to the question:

Cyber technology has increasingly expanded the opportunities for workplace deviance because it allows individuals to access important data more easily and to abuse certain power. According to my research, cyberstalking, fraud, malware spread, and theft are examples of workplace deviance that individuals do. Mitigations for these examples are having significant cybersecurity training, creating good and clear policies, and having sufficient supervisory overhead throughout the department.

I received a 100% on each of these assignments. I completed countless research, and I was determined to give an intelligent and well-said answer to these assignments. I have learned a lot from this class this semester, and I am very glad I had the opportunity to learn about new things and apply some of the safety measures that we talked about in this course to my everyday life.
