Learning Style

In class I write out my notes based on what is put up on the board or what is said. This includes regular notes as well as examples. When it comes to studying outside of class, I start by rereadingmy notes. After that I will utilize any study guide or review material provided and go over previously completed work that may be useful in deepening my understanding. I am struggling with my Interpreting the American Past class. The best study methods for this class are going over the exam study guide and exam review she posts on blackboard. This is because it makes the information that I need to know apparent, instead of adding filler information. I will continue to use these materials to help guide my note taking, and spend at least an hour and a half a week ingraining the material on these guides and making connections between the historical events and details. I did not utilize these resources to the extent that I should have for these past units, but the materials are coming in handy when for open book Exam 1. I struggle with motivation for this course when I get confused, but when I ask the Professor she helps clear things up. I want to do well in this class to maintain a high GPA. The only confusions I still have are on some of the material, but I will use the resources provided to broaden my understanding. In class notes have helped prepare me for the Exam. Trying to take notes on the long readings did not work previously, so next time I will complete the exam study guide as we progress through the units on the upcoming exam. When I get points taken it is because of a lack of detail, so by following my new plan for study I will know enough to include more detail. Outside of class I can utilize my new knowledge of the Curve of Forgetting to help me retain knowledge. It requires that I review material daily for a short period of time to shorten my recall time. In class I will do better with learning and retaining info if I put more effort into actively participating in class.
