If I do not get accepted into the nursing program I will look into BSN programs at other schools. Alternate BSN programs I would look into are the Sentara College of Health Sciences BSN program and the East Coast Polytechnic Institute BSN program. ECPI only requires a highschool diploma, requires no prior nursing experience, and allows you to apply at any time. They can be contacted at (886) 611-9296. Sentara, however, requires you to have received prerequisite course credits at an accredited institution since they do not offer such courses. The application deadline for this program is June 15. I would choose this path because I truly want to go into nursing, so I would continue to pursue it. I wouldn’t have to take any additional courses since by the time I find out whether or not I will be continuing into the ODU BSN program, I will have already completed the general education courses required to enter. I could gain professional experience in the field of nursing by shadowing nurses or getting my Nurse Assistant certification.
