I am currently doing well in all of my classes because I am putting in the work. I have been studying, taking notes, and doing the homework in all of my classes. On my learning Styles Assessment I identified that I needed help in my Interpreting the American Past class. I have started taking more in-class notes and have found that helps keep me engaged in what she is saying.
I expected college to be busy and have a lot of work, but to still be fun. I have found this to be true. I have had a good amount of work, but I have been managing it and still allowed myself to make friends and enjoy my time as a student. I have less free time than I expected, but I know this comes from my commitment to swimming, as opposed to an overload of coursework. I am pleasantly surprised by how friendly my professors are and how I have beenbalancing my classes. The toughest challenge about moving away from home is finding time todo all of the cleaning that I need to do. The easiest challenge to overcome was not having my parents checking in to see if I’m getting done what needs to be done. I have found that I have been able to hold myself accountable.
Something that I have learned about the nursing major is that there is a wide variety of prerequisite courses that need to be taken. This shows that the nursing school wants us to be well rounded learners, which I appreciate. I am still pursuing nursing, so my feelings have not changed about my major. I know it will require hard work and balance, but I have faith in myself. Another major I find interesting is environmental sciences, but I am not sure about a career in that field that I would pursue.
Any confusion I have had throughout this semester has been cleared up by either myprofessors or my advisors. A problem I encountered was getting logged out of my DUO Push, but the IT Help Desk helped me solve the issue very quickly. My history Professor, Professor White, is also my advisor. She has helped me decide which classes to take next semester andeven helped me look into the idea of getting my Nurse Assistant certification. I have not attendedany club interest meetings, but I am interested in possibly joining an environmental club. I havejust been busy, and haven’t tracked down a meeting.
