End of the Semester Reflection

From the beginning of the semester until now I have improved greatly in time management and applying myself to my classes. I expected this semester to be challenging. I was right about this. With the balance of school and swim I have been very busy, but I have managed to keep a good balance. Through this balance I was able to achieve good grades, which was my ultimate goal for this semester. 14 weeks ago I wish I knew how harsh my essays from my English Composition 1 class would be graded so I could’ve done better formatting my essays ahead of time and maybe even seen if my teacher was willing to do an essay editing session with me.

I have kept my study habits very consistent throughout the semester. I review notes and homework to review for exams and quizzes. I have also utilized youtube videos throughout the semester to better understand course content when I get confused. Depending on when exams are, I increase my studying the week before. I typically spend about three to four hours a week studying and doing work for each class. This semester I learned about and used the writing center. I utilized it for my English class and intend to use it more in the semesters to come. Next semester I will continue to use my  homework to study, complete study guides, take detailed notes, and take advantage of resources available to me.

In terms of my classes, Sociology related to history in the ways that people interacted with each other and how these interactions went together to create history. Religion and war are two examples of sociological institutions that have impacts on the way people are, and they certainly played strong roles in shaping what America is today. The nurses panel was the most beneficial Learning Community event that I attended. The honest accounts of first hand experience from young nurses was very informative. They were able to give insight into what nursing school was like and how it helped prepare them for what they do currently. Each nurse having a different specialty was also helpful because they each had different experiences and stories of how they got to where they are to share. This gave me a lot of information on what to expect and what to look into when deciding the path I want to take within nursing.
