Week 14 Raw Prompt

Week-14-Raw-Prompt

This prompt had to do with our relationships to how we view literature. It asked the question, is writing an exploration or a commitment. I believe that writing (and art as a whole) can be both. While it is impulsive and sometimes feels as though I cannot help but write something even while simply driving around town throughout the day, it is still an exploration. I like to think (and might be accidentally quoting someone) that writing is only 10% writing, and most of it is listening and living. I think the only individuals who can truly write, are those that really live. One cannot write about any experience if they do not have their own as a basis. Although “becoming a better listener and explorer” was not one of my original objectives of this class, it certainly became something I focused on throughout the semester.
