Stakeholders
While considering the stakeholders for The Up Centers Parent as Teachers I have thought about what a stakeholder means. A stakeholder is any person invested in the organization on either end. This can be on the scale of investing money, time, and help or on the end of receiving help from the organization and utilizing what the organization has to offer. The stakeholders that I am interested in for my evaluation are the clients receiving the services and the parent educators. The parent educators provide the role of allowing me access to past clients and their records to see if their needs were met, along with providing me access to current clients to observe and interview. The clients provide me with the portion of getting a survey filled out about the services they are receiving from the organization. By utilizing both of these stakeholders I believe it will allow me to focus on both parties idea of what is being offered and if the mission is being met.
Type of Evaluation
Approaching my evaluation I have decided to focus on an objective based model. I plan to use the objectives of Parents as Teachers to answer the question of if the program is meeting the needs of the clients by effectively provided the services promised. I will be able to use the objectives or the mission of the organization to view the past and present clients and records to see if it is being met. I am hoping that the information will align with a clear cut answer of if the organization is holding true to the promise of their mission.
Research Question
Parent as Teachers mission claims to prevent child abuse and neglect. Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development. Improve parenting practices, increasing children’s school readiness and success. Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues. My question specifically is “Is the Parents and Teachers program effectively providing services and improving the livelihood of their families.” By asking this question I am allowing myself ample amount of space to answer each mission statements sentence.
Data
The data forms I plan to use with this evaluation are observation, interviewing, records, and surveys. I hope to observe several meetings between the client and parent educator. After each meeting I would like to hand out surveys for each participant and at the beginning and end of my evaluation period I would like to interview for before and after effects. I then plan to review the records to compare my present findings with the past clients and parent teacher information.
Research Method
The research method I have chosen allows me to bounce my current findings off of the footwork I have started with the Parent as Teachers program. I have found other programs with peer reviewed articles that have provided findings and research from similar mission beliefs. I plan to use this information to collectively provide information on if Parents as Teachers is an outstanding resource for its community.
