Abdul Badawi – Hello! I am Abdul Badawi. I finished my Bachelors from the Hashemite University back home in Jordan. I am currently doing my Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering hoping to graduate in December 2020. I am a Research Assistant with the department and we are working on Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters. I’m very interested in robotics, control systems, and mechatronics. In my free time, I like to go fishing and hiking. My dream job would be at NASA or SpaceX as a test engineer.
Salih Sarp: Hi! I am Salih Sarp, I am pursuing a PhD at Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University. I have electronics and communications background. As a PhD researcher, my focus is development models using artificial Intelligence and computer vision. Currently, we developed a model which detects and segments the floodwater on roadways at Transportation Research Institute. Embedded systems, machine learning and their applications also amazed me. In my free time, I like to play abstract strategy games such as Abalone and Quoridor.
Spyridoula Tsouganatou: Hi, my name is Spyridoula Tsouganatou and I am a Ph.D. student at Old Dominion University. My bachelor was in primary education and my Master’s was in Higher education leadership and administration. I am passionate about the field of education. Currently, I am a Research Assistant at the Darden College of Education conducting research in STEM education. In the future, I want to get involved more with computer science and cybersecurity.
Trevon Sanford – Hello, my name is Trevon Sanford and I am a sophomore at Old Dominion University. I am in the modeling and simulation major at Old Dominion with the goal of leaving with a bachelor’s degree in modeling and simulation. I have yet to declare a minor but am considering minoring in information technology to have an even better understanding of computers and the software related problems that can occur in my field. I am currently focused on helping with STEM related projects as STEM was not introduced to me until my junior year in high school.
Danijela Celar: Hi! My name is Danijela Celar and I am a senior at Old Dominion University. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in mechanical systems and design. I am a mechanical engineering co-op at Newport News Shipbuilding, and have been for two years. Along with working at NNS, I am an Undergraduate Student Researcher (an Office of Naval Research funded project) at ODU. In my spare time I participate in outreach activities related to mechatronic education and research related to mechatronics. I also enjoy educating and mentoring young STEM students in robotics and engineering.
Drew Brown Hello, I am Drew Brown and am a military Veteran enrolled in ODU’s Batten College of Engineering. I am studying Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minor in Cybersecurity. I grew up in the Hampton Roads area and have traveled the globe during my military service. I am passionate about helping others and inspiring positive change for good. I am currently working with Dr. Vukica Jovanovic and her team on the Computer Science Principles and Cybersecurity Pathway for CTE.
Kaylin Pierce – Hi! My name is Kalyn Pierce and I am an undergraduate senior at Old Dominion University. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minor in Electrical Engineering Technology and a concentration in Mechatronics. I am currently working for Petco as a Ship From Store Specialist and l recently started as an Undergraduate Researcher at ODU, but I plan to start and internship with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in the near future. In my free time I like to paint, and craft figures out of silverware. I also enjoy reading and playing various types of videogames.
Mister Higgins – Hey everybody my name is Mister Higgins I am a recent graduate from Old dominion University. I majored in mechanical engineering and tech and minored in electrical engineering and tech. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and working with you.
Rita Meraz: Hi, my name is Rita Meraz and I am majoring in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in systems and automation engineering, and a minor in Physics. I plan to start an internship with Dominion Energy this summer, I am passionate about satellites, and I hope one day to work for NASA. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, being involved in service activities, and exploring small old towns.
Richard Lim: Hi, my name is Richard Lim, and I am a junior at Old Dominion University. My major is in Electrical Engineering Technology with a minor in Engineering Management. I plan to pursue a career where I am able to apply the skills I have learned to solve issues.
